honey Tragically, nine babies at West Bengal’s Murshidabad Medical College passed away in less than twenty-four hours. According to hospital officials, of the ten babies, three were delivered there and the other seven were brought in for care from other hospitals.
The senior official further disclosed that out of the nine babies that passed away, two had congenital heart problems, one had a congenital neurological condition, two had septicemia, three had low birth weights, and one had both a congenital condition and low birth weight.
One infant, roughly 200 kilometers from Kolkata, was afflicted with congenital diseases, according to a government hospital official. The child was 26 months old.
The terrible event has angered the public. The kids were sent to Murshidabad Medical College from the Jangipur Sub-Divisional Hospital’s SNCU (Special Newborn Care Unit) because there were inadequate facilities, according to the officials.
According to them, the unexpected surge in patients caused severe strain on the already overburdened medical college, which ultimately led to the tragic fatalities.
The principal of the medical college acknowledged the necessity for a comprehensive investigation and offered his sympathies to the families of the deceased.
Renowned medical professionals have formed a medical board to look at the incident. A statement from the state health agency guarantees that the required steps will be taken to ensure that such events do not occur in the future.
Investigations are still being conducted further and are waiting on further details. In the past 24 hours, nine kids have passed away. A committee of inquiry has been established.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the majority of the kids weighed between 300 and 500 grams and were malnourished. One of them was born with a serious cardiac condition.
Professor Amit Dan, the principal of the Murshidabad Medical College Hospital, stated, “We do not have such a facility to treat him here and we did not have the time to take him to the facility to get treated.”
Another issue is that all of the patients at Jangipur Hospital are sent to us because PWD work is being done there. There are 300 patients and 129 beds.

Professor Dan of the Murshidabad Medical College Hospital stated, “We are trying our best, but we are not able to save all children, the majority of whom suffer from malnutrition and are underweight.”
