Shami’s Operation Update
Mohammed Shami himself posted on X about his successful heel operation, acknowledging that the recovery process would take some time. The right-arm pacer has been facing injury setbacks, forcing him to miss various international and domestic matches.
Injury History and Recent Setbacks
Mohammed Shami’s absence was notable during the home T20I series against Australia, the South Africa tour, and the Afghanistan series. The 33-year-old is presently not partaking in the ongoing Test series against England. His last appearance for India was in the ODI World Cup final against Australia in November.
During the World Cup, Mohammed Shami displayed remarkable resilience, finishing as the tournament’s highest wicket-taker with 24 dismissals in just seven matches. Despite grappling with landing issues, he maintained a stellar performance.
Blow to IPL 2024 Participation
Unfortunately, the recent update suggests Mohammed Shami will miss the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, dealing a significant blow to his franchise, the Gujarat Titans. Mohammed Shami played a pivotal role as the leader of GT’s pace attack, contributing significantly to their success in the previous seasons.
