Preeti Dalal Argumentation over Mukhtar Ansari Last rites, Gazipur : Mukhtar Ansari’s last rites were performed today in Ghazipur amidst a large gathering of people, despite the implementation of Section 144 in the area. IAS Aryaka Akhoury was tasked with overseeing all arrangements for Mukhtar Ansari’s final journey.
Currently serving as the IAS DM in Ghazipur, Aryaka Akhoury’s name has once again made headlines nationwide. A viral video from Ghazipur depicts her engaging in a confrontation with Mukhtar Ansari’s elder brother, Afzal Ansari.
What happened during the last rites of Mukhtar Ansari
During the funeral procession of Mukhtar Ansari, a heated exchange ensued between Ghazipur’s DM Aryaka Akhoury and Mukhtar Ansari’s brother, Afzal Ansari. The DM reminded Afzal Ansari of the enforcement of Section 144 and emphasized the need to adhere to it, while Afzal maintained that no permission was required for their religious purposes. A video of this altercation has also surfaced.
Essentially, the entire incident occurred during the burial of Mukhtar. Upon observing the crowd, the DM expressed her disapproval, leading to a heated argument with Afzal Ansari. Both parties continued to voice their opinions loudly during this confrontation. In the end, the DM stated that legal action would be taken regarding the matter.

Aryaka Akhoury’s past of controversies
This marks Aryaka Akhoury’s second district assignment as an IAS officer.
IAS Aryaka Akhoury was appointed to Ghazipur in 2022, having been transferred from Bhadohi. She assumed the role of District Magistrate, marking her second district assignment in this capacity.
Her tenure in Bhadohi saw her taking a firm stance against criminal elements, including notorious gangsters, resulting in their imprisonment and the revocation of arms licenses in the district.
Furthermore, Aryaka Akhoury gained attention for her directive banning the wearing of jeans and tops in government offices during her tenure as DM in Bhadohi. Employees and officers were instructed to refrain from wearing casual attire such as jeans and T-shirts while on duty.
