NIDJAM 2024: Gujarat is abuzz with excitement as it hosts the National Inter District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM) from February 16 to February 18. The spotlight recently shone on the winners of the U-14 triathlon event during the medal ceremony held on February 17, with renowned athlete Sarita Gayakwad gracing the occasion.

Gujarat’s Ascent in National Sports Arena

Sarita Gayakwad expressed her joy at witnessing the growth of national sports events in Gujarat. She remarked that Gujarat, which previously hosted fewer national sports events, is now making strides in organizing such games, marking a positive development for the state.

Sarita Gayakwad emphasized the significance of hosting events like NIDJAM in Gujarat, stating that it brings pride to the state. According to her, such events serve as a tremendous motivator for players, fostering enthusiasm and inspiring them to achieve greater heights in their sporting endeavors.

Positive Impact of Khelmahakumbha

Reflecting on the past decade, Sarita Gayakwad acknowledged the positive impact of Khelmahakumbha, which commenced in 2010. She noted that the sports festival has significantly increased public awareness about sports, contributing to the overall growth of the sporting culture.

Triumphant Display by Gujarat’s Young Athletes

The 19th NIDJAM, held at Gujarat University Ground in Ahmedabad, witnessed exceptional enthusiasm from both girls and boys on its second day.

Following the preliminary round on the first day, the second day featured the qualifier round and the semi-final round, culminating in the thrilling final round for the U-14 triathlon event in groups A and B.

Notably, young athletes from Gujarat showcased their talent, dominating in various categories, including the triathlon group-B under 14, where Gujarat’s girls particularly stood out.
