Vote on Account क्या होता है?
A “Vote on Account” is a provision that allows a government to obtain the approval of the parliament or legislative assembly for the essential expenditures for a limited period, usually for a few months, in the absence of the regular budget being approved.
It serves as a temporary arrangement to meet the government’s expenditure requirements until the full budget is formally passed.
When a new financial year begins, there might be a delay in the completion of the budgetary process.
During this interim period, the government seeks permission from the legislature to access funds for its essential and ongoing expenses.
This request for approval of funds for the immediate needs of the government is termed a “Vote on Account.”
The purpose of a Vote on Account is to ensure that the government has the necessary funds to continue its operations and meet essential financial obligations while the detailed scrutiny and approval of the regular budget are still pending.
Once the regular budget is finalized and approved, it replaces the temporary provisions made under the Vote on Account.
